How to figure out what size mold you need

Figuring out what size Log Mold to use is probably one of the hardest things for a beginning soap-maker to do, but you can make a good decision if you apply a bit of logic. We’d like to help!

There are several steps you need to take before ordering a Log Mold:

  • Formulate and settle on your recipe.
  • Decide on your soap bar size; length, width and thickness.
  • Decide the number of bars you want to make from a batch of soap mixture.
  • Calculate the amount of Soap Mixture you’ll require.
    • Figure out how many pounds of oils and butters you’ll use.
    • Figure out how many pounds of finished soap you’ll end up with (accounting for oils, butters, lye, fragrance, colorant and additives).
