Available options

We offer the following options with our soap molds:

Log molds

  • Adjustable cutting guide
  • Custom fit lid

Slab molds

  • Divider grid
  • Custom fit lid

Adjustable cutting guide (log mold)
Basically, the cutting guide is an extension of the bottom mold piece with a stop attached.  You can slide the bottom piece along the side pieces to adjust the width of your bars.  Once you have your width set, tighten the bottom hardware assemblies to lock the bottom piece in place.  Put your log of soap in the mold and slide it to the stop. You will then use the end of the mold as a guide for your cutting blade.  Remove the cut bar, slide the log to the stop, repeat.  If you choose to add the cutting guide option, we cannot guarantee the mold will pass the water test because the bottom piece must fit loosely enough to slide back and forth.  It will, however, hold thin-trace soap so you should still not have any leakage.

Divider grid (slab mold)
To use the divider grid with my molds, you would assemble the grid outside the mold, pour your soap into the mold, and then lower the dividers into your soap.  This method ensures all your bars will be a consistent height, and swirling is so much easier than if you tried to pour each cavity individually.  The soap will most likely stick to the dividers more than the rest of the mold.  To help you un-mold the soap from the dividers, I make the dividers 1" taller than your finished soap will be.  This will allow you to turn the grid & soap upside-down and push the bars out of the grid.

Custom fit lid (log & slab molds)
Our custom fit lids serve several functions
.

  • Minimize ashing.
  • Ensure the sides of the mold remain parallel. Sides can bow if the hardware is tightened excessively.
  • Provide even thermal insulation to help achieve a thorough gel.
  • Prevent foreign matter from falling into your soap.
  • Can be used as a smooth, flat base for curing your soap.
